Although many fine children’s books are available, the random selection of even the best on the market does not systematically enhance a learner’s reading skills or foster confident reading independence. However, BOOKSinBAGS© collections are carefully selected and leveled to ensure that readers enjoy success as they become more and more proficient. In addition, they come with instructions and guidelines that make it possible for non-professionals to use them confidently and effectively.

• Bookbags from levels 1-11 each include extra practice books to help readers reinforce presented skills. FIG. 2
   

• Each bookbag includes laminated mentor instructions. Beginning with level 4 and continuing through level 14, a partial review of suggestions from earlier levels is also included. FIG. 3
   

• Each bookbag includes a set of mentor instruction labels to place inside each book cover. FIG. 4
   

• Also included is the READING ALOUD program for children from 18 months to 5 years old, using the BOOKSinBAGS© collections. In this case, mentors may choose books from several levels, following the child’s language development and interest. FIG. 5
